Dallas, TX- February 21, 2001-
Long Range Systems, Inc. has developed the next generation of its Star Pager. The Star Pager II features
wireless programmability, which allows the user to reprogram the pager number. Because the pager can easily
be programmed, restaurants can reduce the number of pagers they need by only ordering for the number of
servers they have on the floor at one time reducing the cost of the paging system 15-25%. In addition, the
Star Pager II is built to be more durable to endure everyday wear and tear.
The new wireless programmability of the Star Pager II is paramount because in the past, pagers were
programmed with a number during manufacturing and that number could not be altered unless the pager was
sent back and reprogrammed by the manufacturer. Now, managers can easily program pagers to correspond with
server numbers, lessening the confusion of servers having different pager numbers each shift that
don’t correspond to their server number. Now the pager number will actually appear on the check as
the server number. Consequently, all the numbers correspond thus streamlining operations. This feature
gives added flexibility to the Star Paging system. "We added this feature after hearing from our customers
how much smoother the operation would run if they could easily reprogram the pagers themselves," explains
Jim Livingston Vice President of Sales.
Wireless programmability comes in especially handy when, for instance, a server accidentally takes a pager
home, thus resulting in a "dead" or missing pager for the next shift. With the wireless programmability,
mangers can program another pager instead of having to worry about pager numbers being out of sequence or
that server not having a pager for that particular shift.
Another benefit of wireless programmability is a decrease in manufacturing time resulting in a more
reliable better quality product. Instead of manually programming the pager number on the board, technicians
can accurately and swiftly program the pager number from a transmitter. The Star Pager II will still come
from the factory programmed to the customer’s specification of pager numbers.
Customer service time will also be improved with this new feature. Instead of having to wait while
replacement pager numbers are sent out, restaurants can keep extra pagers on hand to program as needed.
Using twenty-four hour technical support offered by Long Range Systems, managers can simply call with
reprogramming questions not having to waste time and money on shipping pagers in to be reprogrammed.
Star Pager II, like the past generation, is also equipped with a nickel metal hydride battery. These are
superior to the old nickel cadmium batteries; they hold their charge longer and have an expected life of
four-to-five years.
